Masonry & Hardscaping Contractor
Masonry & Hardscaping inTruro, MA
Truro is dune, hill and sand, with the National Seashore covering most of the town. There is almost no flat ground and almost no firm ground, which means nearly every project here comes down to two things: how the base is built, and what the town will allow.

Sand and slope together
The hardest ground on the Cape
Most towns give you one problem. Truro gives you two at once. Sand that shifts, on ground that falls away. A patio here sits on material that drains instantly and holds nothing, often on a slope that wants to carry it downhill.
So we build deeper than anywhere else on the Cape. Excavation well past what inland soil needs, compaction in thin lifts rather than all at once, proper edge restraint around the entire perimeter, and where there is any grade at all, a wall with real drainage behind it rather than a decorative border.
None of that shows in the finished photograph. All of it decides whether the photograph still looks like that in five years.
Before we quote
Seashore, wetlands and septic
A very large share of Truro borders the Cape Cod National Seashore or sits inside wetlands jurisdiction, and lot sizes leave tight septic setbacks. In practice that means the question is rarely whether we can build it. It is where it can go.
We check what applies to your address before quoting and handle the filing where it is required. Getting that wrong is the most expensive mistake available on this part of the Cape.
Getting here
We come up with Wellfleet
Truro sits between Wellfleet and Provincetown, which is the far end of our range from Mashpee. We are straight about that. We work the full Cape, and we schedule Outer Cape projects together so the crew is up here properly rather than making the drive for half a day.
What we will not do is take a job we cannot service afterwards. If something needs attention once the work is finished, we come back. That is easier to promise honestly if the schedule was built for it in the first place.

Have questions?
Common questions in Truro
Will a patio hold up in sand?
Yes, if the base is right. We excavate deeper than on inland soil, compact in thin lifts and edge the perimeter so nothing migrates. On sloped lots a properly drained wall does the rest. Skipping any of it is cheaper on day one and expensive within two seasons.
Do I need Conservation Commission approval?
Very often. Much of Truro falls under wetlands jurisdiction or borders the National Seashore, and septic setbacks are tight. Here the question is usually where the work can go rather than whether it can happen. We check before quoting.
My lot slopes toward the dune. Can it be terraced?
Usually yes, though what is allowed near a coastal bank is limited. We look at the grade, the soil and the jurisdiction together before proposing anything, because on this part of the Cape those three answers have to agree.
You are based in Mashpee. Is Truro too far?
It is the far end of our range and we say so. We schedule Outer Cape work together so the crew is up here properly. We will not take a job we cannot come back to.
