Masonry & Hardscaping Contractor
Masonry & Hardscaping in Plymouth, MA
Plymouth is the one town we serve that is not on the Cape. We cross the canal for it, because the work is worth the drive and because most Cape crews will not. It is about forty minutes from our shop in Mashpee.

Across the canal
Most Cape crews stop at the bridge
Ask a Cape Cod contractor to quote a patio in Plymouth and a lot of them go quiet. The canal is a real line. Two bridges, and in season they back up. So Plymouth homeowners end up quoted by crews coming down from the north, and Cape crews stay south of the water.
We work both sides. From Mashpee it is about forty minutes over the Sagamore, and we schedule Plymouth jobs early in the day so bridge traffic is not part of what you are paying for. You get a Cape contractor’s material sourcing and a Cape contractor’s price, on a lot that happens to sit north of the canal.
We also come back. If something needs attention after the job is finished, crossing the bridge again is our problem, not yours.
The ground changes
Plymouth is not Cape sand
A couple of miles north of the canal the soil stops behaving like the Cape. Plymouth gives you glacial till, with stone, clay pockets and hardpan mixed through it. The Cape gives you sand that drains before you have finished screeding it.
That flips the problem entirely. On the Cape we build for material that holds nothing. In Plymouth we build for material that holds water, and for frost that reaches deeper because the ocean is not moderating the ground the way it does in Mashpee. Base depth changes, drainage changes, and where the water is sent changes.
Same crew, different spec. A contractor who builds every job the same way will be right on one side of the canal and wrong on the other.
Before we quote
Coast, wetlands and the historic core
Plymouth is a big town with three different sets of conditions inside it. Coastal lots in Manomet, White Horse Beach and Cedarville sit under wetlands and coastal bank jurisdiction. The historic center carries its own expectations about what materials belong on a property. Inland, the pine barrens bring their own drainage questions.
We check what applies to your specific address before quoting, and we handle the filing where it is required. That is the part that gets expensive when it is skipped.

Have questions?
Common questions in Plymouth
You are based on the Cape. Is Plymouth too far?
It is about forty minutes over the Sagamore, which is closer than several Outer Cape towns we work every week. We schedule Plymouth jobs early so bridge traffic does not eat the day, and we come back after the job if anything needs attention.
Is the ground really different from the Cape?
Yes, and it changes the build. Plymouth soil holds water where Cape sand sheds it, and frost reaches deeper away from the ocean. We adjust excavation depth and drainage rather than pouring the same patio we would build in Mashpee.
Do I need Conservation Commission approval?
Often on the coastal side, in Manomet, White Horse Beach, Cedarville and anywhere near a bank or wetland. We check your address before quoting and file where it is required.
Do you charge extra to cross the canal?
No. Plymouth is priced like every other town we serve. The drive is our cost, not a line on your quote.
